Sainsbury’s Outage: Is the Website or App Down Right Now?
If you’ve landed here because Sainsbury’s isn’t working for you, you’re not alone. Whether it’s the website, the groceries app or your Nectar account playing up, a Sainsbury’s outage can disrupt your shopping, delivery slots or loyalty points in an instant. Above, you’ll find live outage reports submitted by other shoppers, which is often the quickest way to check whether it’s a wider fault or just something on your end.
Below, we’ll walk you through the most common problems, practical fixes you can try yourself, and when it’s worth getting in touch with Sainsbury’s directly.
What Counts as a Sainsbury’s Outage?
Sainsbury’s runs several digital services that can experience faults independently of each other. Understanding which part isn’t working helps you troubleshoot faster.
- Sainsbury’s website, used for browsing, groceries orders and account management
- Sainsbury’s Groceries app, for online shopping and delivery slot bookings
- Nectar app, for loyalty points, offers and digital cards
- Click and Collect services at store level
- Online payment processing during checkout
A problem with one of these doesn’t necessarily mean the others are affected too, so it’s worth checking each separately if something feels off.
Common Sainsbury’s Problems and Quick Fixes
Most issues shoppers report fall into a handful of recognisable patterns. Here’s a quick reference table before you consider contacting customer service.
| Problem | Likely Cause | What to Try |
|---|---|---|
| Website won’t load | Server issue or local connection fault | Refresh the page, clear your browser cache, or try a different browser |
| App keeps crashing | Outdated app version or software glitch | Update the app via your app store, then restart your phone |
| Delivery slots not showing | High demand or temporary system fault | Try again later, or check slots at a different time of day |
| Payment not going through | Card details, bank rejection, or checkout fault | Double-check your card details and try an alternative payment method |
| Nectar points not updating | Sync delay between app and account systems | Log out and back in, or wait 24 hours before raising a query |
| Login not working | Incorrect credentials or account lockout | Reset your password via the official login page |
Common Error Messages You Might Encounter
Sainsbury’s doesn’t publish a fixed list of numbered error codes for its consumer services, but certain on-screen messages come up more often than others. Here’s what they generally mean and how to respond.
| Message Shown | What It Usually Means | Suggested Action |
|---|---|---|
| “Page not found” or blank screen | Temporary server fault or broken link | Return to the homepage and navigate again |
| “Session expired” | You’ve been logged out due to inactivity | Log back in and repeat your last action |
| “Payment declined” | Bank rejection or incorrect card details | Check with your bank or try a different card |
| “Something went wrong, please try again” | General system fault, often temporary | Wait a few minutes and reload the page or app |
| “No slots available” | Full delivery capacity in your area | Check again closer to your preferred delivery date |
Troubleshooting Steps Before You Contact Sainsbury’s
Before assuming there’s a full-scale Sainsbury’s outage, it’s worth ruling out issues on your own device or connection first.
- Restart your router or switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data (or vice versa)
- Close and reopen the app, or fully restart your phone
- Check that your app is updated to the latest version
- Try accessing Sainsbury’s via a different device or browser
- Clear your browser’s cookies and cache
- Check the outage reports at the top of this page to see if others are affected
If multiple users are reporting the same problem at the same time, it’s likely a genuine outage rather than an issue with your device or connection.
When to Contact Sainsbury’s Customer Service
If you’ve tried the steps above and the problem persists, particularly with payments, missing orders or account access, it’s time to reach out directly. This is especially important if money has been taken but your order hasn’t gone through, or if you can’t access your account at all.
You can find official support options, including live chat and help articles, on the Sainsbury’s Help and Contact Us page. This is the most reliable route for account-specific issues that a general fix can’t resolve.
Keeping an Eye on Sainsbury’s Service Status
Outages affecting the website or app are usually resolved within a short space of time, but they can still be frustrating when you’re trying to book a delivery slot or check your Nectar balance. Checking back here regularly gives you a real-time view of what other shoppers across the UK are experiencing, helping you decide whether to wait it out or seek support.
If you’re currently having trouble with Sainsbury’s, take a moment to report your experience above. Your input helps build a clearer picture for other shoppers facing the same issue right now.

My nectar card has disappeared from my Sainsbury’s account. When I try to reregister in the Nectar App the screen goes blank. Log into the App and it says I don’t have a Nectar card. Reregister and it sends me an e mail saying I don’t have a have an account and clicking on the link I’m sent and I go to a blank page

MOST DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY ARE NOT SORTING OUT THIS PROBLEM AS I RELY ON THIS SERVICE FOR MY WEEKLY FOOD SHOP.
